Australian Prime Minister and other dignitaries visit NT health facilities during Garma Indigenous festival

 

 

 

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese spent a few days at the Garma indigenous festival in East Arnhem Land, Northern Territory last August.

He delivered an inspiring speech that followed from the Uluru Statement.

The Prime Minister was welcomed at the event by Prof Len Notaras AO, President of the ACHSM Branch, and The Hon Natasha Fyles, NT Minister for Health.

Many other dignitaries were in attendance at this year's Garma Festival, including he US Ambassador to Australia, Her Excellency Carolyn Kennedy, accompanied by her husband Edwinn Schlossberg. Carolyn Kennedy is the daughter of the late US President John F Kennedy.

The US ambassador to Australia, Her Excellency Carolyn Kennedy with husband Edwinn Schlossberg and Professor Len Notaras AO.

 

Len Notaras has been Executive Director of the National Critical Care and Trauma Response Centre (NCCTRC) since 2009. The Centre worked alongside the Yothu Yindi Foundation and local health partners to support a successful Garma Festival in 2022.

 

A multidisciplinary team of health professionals and operational support staff assisted during the four-day festival of Indigenous culture in remote Northeast Arnhem Land, Northern Territory Australia. This followed extensive planning in the lead-up to the festival in collaboration with key stakeholders and the community to support a safe and enjoyable event for all.
