NSW ACHSM group reunion, 14 Sep 2023

The NSW ACHSM Reunion Group has been meeting for many years.

There are over 40 people on the reunion list. About 15 – 20 people usually attend the lunches. The rest like to stay in touch about the reunions and photos taken (to see who is still standing!).

The group meets once or twice a year and has met at various venues over the years. The last reunion was held on 14 September 2023 at a venue where we have not previously gathered: The View Hotel in North Sydney. It is relatively quiet in the dining area with a brilliant view of the Harbour Bridge – at least it was quiet until the 17 people turned up and started talking. However, it is a good venue and I think we will use it again in the future.

Reunion members also receive news about the College or about people in general in the Health system.

We also have a few interstate members of the group who won’t manage to attend many reunions but like to hear about people in the College or Health; for instance, a few of us go through the Australia Day and King’s Birthday Honours lists twice a year to see who got a ‘gong’ that we might know about.

A small group from the reunion members have also put forward several nominations for Australian Honours that the College has endorsed and we have been successful on a number of occasions in getting College members recognised in this way.

I hope this information might stimulate interest in other Branches to hold their own reunions.

Warren Westcott
Convener
